You may have heard of the Priority Services Register (PSR) — but what is it, and why does it matter?
The PSR is a free support service offered by utility companies like Northern Powergrid and Northern Gas Networks. It’s designed to help households with additional needs, particularly during power cuts or supply issues.
✅ Who should be on the PSR?
You should register if you or someone in your household is:
Over the age of 65
Has a disability or chronic health condition
Uses medical equipment that needs power
Has young children or is pregnant
Lives with mental health concerns
Struggles with communication or mobility
✅ What does being on the PSR actually do?
Being registered means you could get:
Advance notice of planned outages
Priority support during emergencies
Access to alternative heating or power supplies
Extra help with meter readings or accessible communication formats
✅ We’ll register you as part of our service
At Home Heating Hub, registering people for the PSR is part of our core mission.
When you come to us for heating advice or support, we’ll:
Check if you’re eligible for PSR
Complete the registration on your behalf
Make sure all utilities know your household’s needs
This helps ensure vulnerable households are not left behind during energy-related disruptions.
